Adani Enterprises has rejected the news of starting an airline. The company said in a statement that the media reports are ‘completely baseless’ and the company is not considering any proposal to enter the airline business.
New Delhi [भारत]July 24 (ANI): Adani Enterprises has refuted media reports that it was planning to launch an airline, according to a company statement. In its release, Adani said it is not evaluating any proposals to enter the airline business, and described these reports as “completely baseless and factually incorrect”.
“We would like to categorically refute recent media reports and market speculations that Adani Enterprises is planning to launch an airline. These reports are completely baseless and factually incorrect,” the statement said. It further said, “Adani Enterprises is not evaluating any proposal to enter the airline business.”
Earlier media reports had said that major airport operators GMR Group and Adani Group were seeking approval to enter the airline business by changing the existing rules governing ownership of scheduled airlines by airport operators.
Media reports had said the move would require amendments to the existing regulatory framework, which currently prevents operators of New Delhi and Mumbai airports from holding more than 10 per cent stake in a scheduled airline. Reports further said that the government was examining the possibility of amending this provision, including seeking legal opinion, and any change would require Cabinet approval. However, neither the government nor the airport operators have officially announced any changes to the existing rules.
Big agreement between Adani Defense and DRDO
In a separate development, Adani Defense & Aerospace and Defense Research & Development Organization (DRDO) signed an agreement to develop India’s Next Generation Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C-MKII) system for the Indian Air Force (IAF) to support Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative.
Under the agreement, both organizations will jointly develop, manufacture and integrate airborne mission systems on six modified Airbus A321 aircraft for the Indian Air Force. The program will also cover integrated logistics, maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO), and technical support for 30 years. The AEW&C-MKII platform is scheduled to be inducted into the Indian Air Force in 2032-33. (ANI)
