Adani Power reported 47.2% rise in profit at Rs 4,866.60 crore in Q1FY27. The company’s revenue increased by 34% to Rs 18,902 crore. EBITDA margin also increased to 42%. This increase was due to increased sales of electricity and better tariffs.

Adani Power Ltd on Wednesday said its consolidated profit after tax (PAT) rose 47.2 per cent to Rs 4,866.60 crore in Q1FY27. According to the company, this growth is due to higher sales of power, better tariff realization and tight control on finance costs.

The company’s revenue grew nearly 34 per cent year-on-year to Rs 18,902 crore in the first quarter of the current financial year, from Rs 14,109 crore in the year-ago quarter. The company’s EBITDA margin increased to 42 percent from 40.3 percent in the same period last year.

Company’s best performance till date

On a sustained basis, total revenue grew 26.6 per cent to Rs 17,935.96 crore, while EBITDA grew 21.6 per cent to Rs 6,982.75 crore, the company’s highest ever quarterly sustained EBITDA performance, according to the company’s exchange filing.

Strong increase in electricity sales

The company’s power sales grew 16.9 per cent year-on-year to 28.8 billion units (BU) as against 24.6 BU in Q1FY26. This growth was driven by higher operating capacity and strong demand for electricity. Power sales under power purchase agreements (PPAs) increased by 30.3 per cent to 24.5 BU, while tariff realization improved by 8.5 per cent to Rs 5.95 per kWh.

Demand for electricity increased in the country

The company said India’s peak power demand reached a record high of 270.8 GW in May 2026 amid above-normal heat and persistent heatwaves. Energy consumption during the quarter increased by 8.4 percent year-on-year to 485.4 BU.

The company made several acquisitions

During 1QFY27, Adani Power acquired 180 MW Churk Thermal Power Plant, 24 per cent stake in Jaiprakash Power Ventures Ltd and 11.49 per cent stake in Prayagraj Power Generation Company Ltd under the approved resolution plan for Jaiprakash Associates Ltd.

Big agreement with Maharashtra

The company also signed a 25-year power supply agreement with Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited for supply of 1,600 MW from the proposed 2×800 MW ultra-supercritical thermal power plant.

future plans

Adani Power said its ongoing capital expenditure program to expand generation capacity by 45 gigawatts is progressing as planned. The company is also diversifying into domestic and international hydropower projects and is preparing to explore opportunities in the nuclear power sector. (ANI)
