After the change of power in Delhi, continuous rhetoric is being made by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Now Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood once again attacked the previous AAP government. He said that the government would take strict action against private schools that arbitrarily increase fees, while the previous AAP government also accused that when some schools increased the fees during their tenure, nothing was done.
Education Minister Ashish Sood said today on Monday, “A private school was caught scamishing Rs 15 crore, while the previous government had allowed him to increase the fees of 15 per cent. He also said that education will never be allowed to be done in Delhi. There are 1677 private schools in Delhi, in which 355 schools are built on government land and their permission is required for them. While 114 schools do not need the government.
Fees will not increase at unethical level: Minister
Addressing a press conference, Ashish Sood said, “We will not allow any kind of fees to increase in any kind of private schools. The manner in which corruption took place in the previous governments will be investigated.” He said that the previous government had given permission to increase the fee of 15 percent despite the scam of crores in a school. While 14 percent fees were increased in other schools. He says that in Delhi, only 73 schools were audited in the last 10 years.
Talking about tightening the arbitrariness on the fees, the Education Minister of Delhi said that we have prepared a list of such schools, and each of them will be inspected. He assured that necessary action will be taken on the basis of findings.
AAP attack on BJP on fees hike
Ashish Sood said that schools under Delhi School Education Act, 1973 will have to get permission from the Directorate of Education before implementing any fees hike.
Recently, AAP leaders have also attacked the BJP -ruled Delhi government against the alleged fees. Leader of the opposition Atishi on Monday alleged that many schools have increased their tuition fees significantly without proper monitoring in BJP’s provocation.
Last week, Senior AAP and former Deputy Chief Minister leader Manish Sisodia had also alleged that the ruling BJP government had handed over the Delhi’s education system to “education mafia” and claimed that many private schools have increased the fees by 20 to 82%.
On this, Education Minister Sood challenged Sisodia to present evidence of fees hike during the BJP tenure. He also said, “If any evidence is presented, appropriate action will be taken.”
