ACB in action after Vivek Vihar fire incident, starts investigation of private hospitals

After the fire incident in Vivek Vihar Hospital in Delhi, the Anti Corruption Branch (ACB) has come into action. ACB has started investigating the registration and regulatory management of all the private hospitals and nursing homes in the capital Delhi. Seven children died in the Vivek Vihar fire incident while many were badly burnt.

PTI quoted officials as saying that the ACB team visited and inspected 40 private medical centres in East Delhi in the last 48 hours. During this time, the team also found flaws in many medical centres. The ACB team is also inspecting the security arrangements made in hospitals and medical centres and taking reports.

ACB has formed four teams

Officials said that ACB has formed four teams under the leadership of four inspector level officers to inspect the hospitals. It is being told that it may take a few weeks for the team to inspect all the private hospitals in the capital.

On Friday, the team inspected at least 15 hospitals and nursing homes located in Vivek Vihar and its surrounding areas. The team is visiting all these hospitals to identify the flaws and shortcomings there and is also preparing a report.

So far 7 children have died in the incident

A fire broke out in Vivek Vihar’s Baby Care Newborn Hospital on May 25. In this incident, 6 newborns died due to burns and suffocation. Five injured children were rescued at the time of the incident, out of which one died on Friday. In this way, 7 children have died in the incident so far.

After the fire incident in the hospital, Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena on Tuesday ordered the ACB to investigate the registration and management of private nursing homes in the capital. After the order of the Lieutenant Governor, the ACB has formed a team and started the investigation.
