NEET-UG exam will now be held again on June 21
- This demonstration is taking place amid the ongoing controversies regarding NEET-UG examination. There have been many allegations in this examination like paper leak, administrative negligence and delay in the exam.
- After the irregularities, this year’s NEET-UG exam will now be held again on June 21. At the same time, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is investigating the paper leak case and has made several arrests in this connection.
- Recently, CBI Director Praveen Sood and National Testing Agency (NTA) Director General Abhishek Singh had briefed the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Government Assurances about the progress of the investigation.
Protests are taking place across the country regarding NEET
- Meanwhile, protests are already taking place in Delhi and other parts of the country. Student organizations like All India Students Association (AISA) are demanding accountability over the repeated irregularities in exams like NEET and CUET. This week, many protesters were also detained during a demonstration outside the Education Ministry.
- Political rhetoric on this issue has also intensified. Opposition leaders are questioning the government’s role in handling the examination system. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal had recently criticized the central government. Congress leaders Jairam Ramesh and Rahul Gandhi are also continuously raising their voice on these issues.
- On the other hand, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has also said that it is addressing cyber security concerns in the evaluation system after the vulnerabilities revealed in its On-Screen Marking (OSM) portal.
