Massive fire in Meerut’s chemical factory
Meerut (Uttar Pradesh) [भारत]June 30 (ANI): A massive fire broke out in a chemical manufacturing unit in Dheer Kheda village of Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh on Monday, sending a thick cloud of poisonous smoke into the sky. Local Fire Emergency Response Units quickly responded to bring the fire under control.
Fire engines were called from neighboring districts
Upon receiving the information on June 29, the Chief Fire Officer (CFO) immediately coordinated a cross-district response and sent emergency vehicles from the neighboring Hapur fire station to help local teams in Meerut. Fire engines were deployed to the spot to prevent the fire from spreading to adjacent industrial blocks, which were battling the dangerous and high-temperature chemical blaze.
According to fire department personnel present at the spot, the initial phase of the operation was very critical due to the presence of flammable compounds inside the factory premises.
Fire officer Manveer Singh said, “We received immediate information about a major fire in a chemical factory in Dhir Kheda. Following the alert, the CFO immediately dispatched two fire tenders from Hapur fire station. On reaching the spot, our teams faced a serious fire but were able to quickly control it through rapid tactical deployment.”
So far there is no immediate report of any casualties or injuries to any civilian from the factory. Cooling operations are still continuing to ensure that no other chemical fires break out in the storage units.
Investigation into the cause of the fire begins
The actual cause of the fire has not been known yet.
Local police, in conjunction with industrial safety officials, have officially launched an investigation to determine whether proper hazard protocols and chemical safety regulations were being followed at the site. Further details are awaited. (ANI)
