Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has created history in IPL 2026 and won the champion crown. In the final match played at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, RCB defeated Gujarat Titans by 5 wickets and captured the trophy for the second consecutive time.
Last season, RCB lifted the IPL trophy for the first time by defeating Punjab Kings in the final. Now this team of Rajat Patidar has defended the title. After this historic title win, it rained money on champion Bengaluru. Let us know how many crores of rupees reward did RCB get. We will also know how many crores of rupees came into the bag of runner up Gujarat Titans and nine teams.
How many crores did the winner RCB get?
Along with lifting the shining trophy of IPL 2026, the champion Royal Challengers Bangalore was given a huge prize money of ₹ 20 crores. This is another golden page in the history of RCB, where the team not only won the hearts of the fans but also achieved the feat of winning the title for the second consecutive time. After Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings, RCB has become the first team to achieve this feat. Despite losing the final match, Gujarat Titans, the runner-up, did not return empty handed. This team captained by Shubman Gill got ₹13 crores
Money showered on other playoff teams too
BCCI awarded prizes worth crores not only to the teams that played the finals, but also to the other two teams that made the journey till the playoffs. The Rajasthan team that lost in Qualifier-2 got ₹7 crore. The Hyderabad team, which was eliminated in the eliminator match, received prize money of ₹ 6.5 crore. BCCI had prepared a total prize pool of more than ₹ 46.5 crore for IPL 2026, which was divided among the top 4 teams. Teams finishing fifth to tenth do not receive any official prize money.
How is this money distributed?
According to the rules of IPL, whatever prize money the team wins, it does not go directly into anyone’s pocket. There is a definite mathematics to this. Half of the total prize money (e.g. ₹10 crore out of RCB’s ₹20 crore) is distributed equally among all the players and support staff of the team or based on their performance. The remaining half goes to the account of the franchise owners.
Increase of 316 from the first season
When the first season of IPL was played in the year 2008, Rajasthan Royals won the title under the captaincy of Shane Warne and they got only ₹ 4.80 crores. Today, after 18 years, the prize money has increased by 316.67% to ₹20 crore in 2026, which shows why this league is the richest cricket league in the world. Apart from this, the players who won Orange Cap and Purple Cap have also been given cash prizes of Rs 10 lakh each along with an additional amount of up to Rs 1 crore in the form of other individual awards.
