History of Bhangarh Fort: From royal splendor to mysterious desolation
Bhangarh was built by King Madho Singh in the 16th century, who was the younger brother of the famous King Mansingh of Amer. This area was once the center of art, architecture and trade. But over time this fort became deserted and today its ruins have become home to mystery and fear.
The most scary story related to Bhangarh
The most famous story associated with this fort is of a tantric ‘Indus Sevada’, who fell in love with Rani Ratnavati. The tantric used tantra-mantra to subdue the queen, but the queen got a clue of it and thwarted the tantric’s plan. While dying, the tantric cursed this fort and the kingdom that no one would survive here. Since then, this fort has been deserted and till date no one has been able to remain permanently here.
Entry after sunset is forbidden!
The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has banned entry into Bhangarh Fort after sunset. There is also a board on which it is written –
“Entry into this premises is forbidden after sunset and before sunrise.”
Local people say that there are peculiar sounds from here at night – sometimes the tinkle of bangles, sometimes a woman’s cry, and sometimes someone laughs suddenly. Some people have also claimed that they have realized invisible powers there.
What is the situation today? How to reach Bhangarh?
Bhangarh Fort has become an interesting place for adventure lovers and paranormal researchers today.
The fort is located about 85 km from Jaipur and 300 km from Delhi.

Does any science answer this?
Many scientists and researchers have investigated this fort, but so far no concrete scientific evidence has been found which can fully explain the events here. Some people consider it a psychological effect, but those who have gone there say “there is something”, which can be seen but can be felt.
Why does the fort become scary at night?
The rooms inside Bhangarh are absolutely in the dark, mysterious figures remain on the walls and the whole atmosphere seems scary. As soon as the sun grinds, a strange energy is felt all around, which makes the hair stand up. This is the reason why this fort is considered to be the most scary place in India.
Not a ghost but faith? Some people believe in the power associated with Balaji
Some devotees also believe that there is no soul in Bhangarh now because this place has been purified by worshiping in Mehndipur Balaji. But those who have gone there say something else.
Be careful if you are thinking of going there!
