Guj zooms past India in car, 2-wheeler sales Overall vehicle sales across all categories grew by almost 13% while it was a mere 5% for India

The automobile sector is witnessing the advent of good times after a brief lull, with a rise in sales for June 2025 compared to the corresponding period last year.

In fact, in some aspects, Gujarat outperformed India as a whole in automobile sales.

As per data collated by the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA), car and two-wheeler sales in Gujarat saw a significant growth in June 2025 with 25,257 cars and over 1 lakh two-wheelers being sold. This is much better than 23,214 cars and over 84,000 two-wheelers that were sold in June 2024. This means the year-on-year growth was 8.8% for cars and 18.63% for two-wheelers in June ’25 vis-à-vis June ’24, states a FADA report.

The overall vehicle sales in Gujarat across all categories grew by almost 13% with total sales jumping from over 1.24 lakh vehicles in June ’24 to over 1.4 lakh in June ’25. During the same period, overall vehicle sales grew by 5% across India, with June ’25 reporting a sale of 20 lakh vehicles against over 19 lakh in June ’24.

FADA Gujarat Chairperson, Pranav Shah, told Mirror that after a slight decline in sales for two months, Gujarat Auto Retail Sales registered a good growth over the last year across segments, except for tractors. “However, last year Rathyatra was in July, so exact comparison of YoY growth is not very relevant,” he said. Explaining further, he said Rathyatra, which is one of the major festivals for automobile retail sales, sets the momentum for the upcoming festival season in Gujarat. “With a good monsoon and overall economic revival, we are expecting growth during the upcoming festivals too.”

As per FADA data, tractor sales dropped by 58% in Gujarat in June ’25 compared to June ’24, while they grew by almost 9% in India. However, construction equipment vehicle sales saw a major jump of 71% in Gujarat and 54% in India for the same corresponding period. Even sales of commercial vehicles grew by over 3% in Gujarat and by 6.6% in India during the same period.
