The teaser opens with a nostalgic scene showing seven young men gathered around a gramophone. A message appears on screen reading, “every story begins with a song.” From there, the animated clip traces a journey through time.

The story appears to draw inspiration from Korean cultural history. It references the tale of seven Korean men who travelled to the United States in the late 1800s and recorded one of the earliest known audio recordings of Korean voices in Washington, D.C. The teaser then jumps forward through time, eventually arriving at 2013, the year BTS made their debut.

The animated clip also includes ARMYs, waving their signature light sticks and cheering for the group. The teaser closes with a powerful question displayed on screen: “When the world feels heavy, when your heart feels light, what is your love song?”

Many fans quickly noticed that the concept mirrors a long-standing theory within the fandom. When BTS first revealed the album title ARIRANG, several ARMYs speculated that the project might connect to Korea’s cultural heritage and the historical recording of the traditional folk song. The trailer appears to confirm those suspicions.

For the unversed, the iconic folk song Arirang is widely regarded as one of Korea’s most important cultural symbols, making it a meaningful theme for the group’s return.
