Actress Ada Sharma, known for her strong presence in Hindi, Telugu, and other regional films, is currently in the spotlight for her upcoming Marathi film ‘Gajra.’ This marks her debut in Marathi cinema, and the film is inspired by true events. Ada emphasizes that portraying real-life incidents on screen significantly increases the responsibility of both the actors and filmmakers. The aim of such stories is to convey the pain and struggles of those involved.
In a recent interview, Ada shared her thoughts on films based on true events. She stated that it is crucial to approach these narratives with sensitivity, especially when depicting someone’s real experiences or pain. Overdramatizing a person’s suffering is not the right way to impact the audience.
She explained, “When telling a story linked to real events, a significant responsibility comes with it. Our goal is not to shock people but to help them understand the circumstances and emotions the characters are experiencing. If the audience can feel the pain and emotions of a character, only then can such a story be deemed successful in its purpose.”
The actress added, “As actors, we become temporary guests in someone else’s life. Therefore, we strive to present that person’s emotions and experiences on screen with as much honesty and truthfulness as possible.”
Ada further noted, “Sometimes, real-life events are even more dramatic than those depicted in films. People often think that movies embellish stories for impact, but with films based on true events, we sometimes have to do the opposite.”
Directed by Shreyas Jadhav, ‘Gajra’ has yet to reveal much information about its story and themes. According to the producers, the film is set to release in theaters in 2027.
