Big news: Liquor shops will remain open even on Holi, people will be able to drink jam

Liquor shops will remain open in Delhi on Holi on March 4. Big news has come for people who drink alcohol. The government has excluded Delhi from the list of dry days, due to which liquor shops will remain open in Delhi tomorrow i.e. on the day of Holi. The Excise Department has issued an order and given information about it, in which Holi was removed from the list. Also, there will still be dry day on Mahashivratri, Republic Day, Mahavir Jayanti and Eid. That means liquor shops will not open on this day.

According to the order of the Excise Department, liquor shops will remain open on the day of Holi and there will be no restriction on people from spilling the drink. Usually, dry day is declared on many religious and national festivals, but this time Holi has been excluded from dry day.

In the order issued by the Excise Department of Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi, the days which have been declared as dry days for the year 2026 include Republic Day (26 January), Mahashivratri (15 February), Eid-ul-Fitr (21 March), Ram Navami (26 March) and Mahavir Jayanti (31 March). These dates are clearly mentioned in the order, while Holi’s name is not in this list.

These hotels will always be open

According to the Excise Department, it will be mandatory to keep all licensed shops and contracts closed on these declared dry days. However, the ban on providing liquor as service to guests staying in hotels which have L-15 and 15-F licenses will not apply. Apart from this, it has also been made clear in the order that no compensation will be given to the license holders on any change in the list.

There is a possibility of the market becoming more lively due to liquor shops being open on big festivals like Holi. The sale of sweets, Gujhiya and Rang-Gulal is already at its peak during the festive season. In such a situation, sale of liquor can also become a big profit opportunity for businessmen. Many people organize Holi get-togethers and parties with friends, where alcohol becomes a part of the celebration.
