‘May last 4-5 weeks, prepared if it stretches further’: Trump on US-led operation against Iran

Washington: Amid increasing tensions in the Middle East, US President Donald Trump said on Monday that the US operation against Iran can go longer than 4-5 weeks. He added that Iran’s nuclear programme was growing rapidly, which posed a great threat to the US and its people.

Addressing a press conference on Operation Epic Fury, the President said that the Iranian regime had missiles capable of hitting European and US bases. Trump added that the purpose of the programme is to shield nuclear weapon development.

Iran is a terrible terrorist regime: Trump

“Iran is a terrible terrorist regime. The US warned Iran not to build any nuclear facilities. Their missiles are to shield nuclear weapons. We hit their capacity to build missiles. The Iranian regime posed colossal threats to the US,” the US President said.

He added, “Iran possessed colossal threats to the US. While earlier we had projected 4-5 weeks to end this war, now it seems we can go longer. The US has the strongest army in the world. We have the strongest military in the world.”

The President, while talking about four US military personnel who lost their lives earlier in the day in the ongoing operation, said, “We grieve for the four heroic American service members who have been killed in action today. We continue the mission against Iran in their memory with ferocious, unyielding resolve to crush the threat this terrorist regime poses to the US.

‘US has the most powerful military in the world’

“We have the most powerful military in the world, and we will prevail against the enemy. We are already ly ahead of our time projections. Since the start, we projected four to five weeks for this war. But we can go far longer,” the President said further.
