This Indian team stuck in Qatar amidst war
Actually, the Indian senior men’s national basketball team is currently stuck in Doha, Qatar. After participating in the Asian Qualifiers of FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027, the team was to play the next match against Lebanon on March 3, but due to tension in the Middle East, the Indian team could not go to Lebanon. The team recently completed its match against Qatar at Lusail Multipurpose Hall, in which they had to face defeat.
After the match, the team was checking out from the hotel and heading to the airport to board a flight to Lebanon. But further travel has come to a halt due to cancellation of flights. The Basketball Federation of India (BFI) has issued an official statement confirming that the team and accompanying officials are safe and are staying in secure accommodation in Doha. The federation said that the safety of all players and staff has been ensured, and they are in a safe place. The Federation is monitoring the situation and exploring options for safe return as soon as possible.
Poor performance of Indian team in qualifiers
In the Asian Qualifiers for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027, the Indian team is in Group D along with Lebanon, Saudi Arabia and Qatar. India have not performed well in their matches so far and are at the bottom of the group with a record of 0-3.
