Indo-Katar Trade Deal
In media reports, government sources were quoted as saying that the free trade agreement (FTA) between India and Qatar can be finalized by the first week of October. Sources indicated that India’s Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal would probably reach Qatar on 6 October 2025, where the agreement will be formally finalized.
This FTA is associated with a comprehensive economic partnership (CEPA), which was first raised in February 2025 when the rich of Qatar came to India Tamim bin Hamad Althani. At that time, the two countries agreed to mixed economic goals, including a plan to double bilateral trade by 2030.
Target to US $ 28 billion to trade
In February, India and Qatar agreed to double the bilateral trade in the next five years to US $ 28 billion. The two sides also signed two agreements in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani in New Delhi, with the first agreement on the establishment of a strategic partnership while the second agreement was also on the rescue of revised double taxation.
Business talks with European Union
The talks with the European Union (EU) were also mentioned by sources. He said that now an EU delegation is present in New Delhi and the conversation is moving at a good pace. This discussion is part of the 13th round of talks of India. During this dialogue, the meeting of Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal on 12 September 2025 (Friday) is scheduled with EU’s Trade Commissioner Maros Shefovich. It is believed that this meeting will be helpful in ensuring more clarity and cooperation between the two sides.
In an easy language, the India -based free trade agreement can be finalized in early October and Piyush Goyal’s Qatar tour on October 6 can prove to be decisive in this direction. At the same time, India EU dialogue is also moving forward, in which an important meeting is proposed on 12 September. If both agreements are successful, India’s international trade approach can reach new heights.
