In the Super 8 round, India registered a strong 72-run victory over Zimbabwe, reviving the hopes of the semi-finals. After this match played at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, captain Suryakumar Yadav told the special reason behind the victory. He revealed that before this match, the team’s video analyst had prepared a special slide, which filled every player with enthusiasm.

Suryakumar said after the match that the team had left behind its previous defeats. He told, ‘We did not think much about the league stage or the last match in Ahmedabad. Our video analyst had made a slide for the batsmen and bowlers, showing what we did well last year. We saw that slide, got a lot of positivity and clarity from it, and with this mentality we came here.
This video instilled renewed confidence in the team. Everyone from top order to number 7 contributed in batting. Abhishek Sharma scored 55 runs, while Hardik Pandya played an unbeaten inning of 50 runs, due to which India scored a strong score of 256 runs. Suryakumar said that there was almost nothing lacking in the performance, but the bowling should have been a little more clinical. He praised Zimbabwe’s batsmen, especially Brian Bennett’s unbeaten inning of 97 runs, which is also Zimbabwe’s best score in the T20 World Cup.
Hope to do better in bowling
Talking about bowling, the captain admitted that there was a need to make smart choices in some important moments. He said, ‘We could have taken better decisions at some places. Bold decisions will have to be taken on such occasions. Now after reaching Kolkata, we will plan well for the match against West Indies. For now, we will take some rest, travel and relax.
