Why were questions raised on the interpretation of the verses of Gita?
In the mentioned verse, the solitary practice, concentration of mind, being free from desires and a restrained life of a person practicing Yoga has been described. In traditional Gita commentaries, this verse is considered to be related to meditation yoga. There is no mention of Namaz or any particular religious method in it. For this reason, many people objected to Maulana’s interpretation and called it different from the scriptural context.
Sharp reaction of Mahant Vishnu Das
After Maulana’s statement, Mahant Vishnu Das of Ayodhya gave a strong reaction. He said that such comments on Lord Shri Krishna hurt the religious sentiments of crores of devotees. While demanding legal action against Maulana, Mahant made a controversial statement that the person who brings back Maulana by cutting his tongue will be given a reward of Rs 10 lakh. He also alleged that such statements are made only to garner headlines.
At present this matter has become a topic of discussion on social media. Different parties are presenting their respective arguments, while an official response from the administration on this entire controversy is awaited.
