BRS leader KTR accused CM Revanth Reddy of diverting public attention. He said that his fight is against policies, not personal. KTR cornered the government on the Kaleshwaram issue and also accused it of not providing water to the farmers.
Hyderabad (Telangana) [भारत]July 15 (ANI): Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) said his political fight is only against the policies and governance of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and not against him personally.
Speaking informally to the media during his visit to New Delhi on Tuesday, KTR accused the chief minister of deliberately diverting public attention from the failures of the Congress government, a press note said.
‘Have done PhD in distraction’
Taking a jibe at Revanth Reddy, KTR remarked that the Chief Minister seemed to have done “four or five PhDs in diverting public attention”. He alleged that even after completing 31 months in office, Revanth Reddy spends more time attacking BRS instead of addressing public issues. He asked, “If BRS is a finished party, as the Chief Minister repeatedly claims, then why do they attack us every day?”
The press note said KTR questioned Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over the chief minister’s “irresponsible statements” and asked why the national leadership was silent. Referring to Revanth Reddy’s recent comments, KTR said no chief minister should demand blood from farmers or glorify Hitler.
Attack on government regarding Kaleshwaram project
On Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project, KTR alleged that the Congress government was deliberately not providing irrigation water to farmers. He said the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA) is only an advisory body and the ownership and decision-making power over the project rests entirely with the Telangana government. He accused the Chief Minister of using the NDSA as an excuse for not filling the reservoirs and alleged that water was being released downstream for political reasons rather than public interest.
Terming the refusal to fill Kaleshwaram as “a deliberate criminal act”, KTR demanded that the government immediately construct a cofferdam, commission Kannepalli pumps and provide irrigation water to farmers. Expressing concern over the agricultural situation, KTR said farmers are shedding blood while the Congress government is refusing to provide water. Referring to the recent incident in Suryapet district, he said that due to the negligence of the government, farmers were forced to shed their blood in protest.
‘BRS will return to power’
KTR alleged that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is nervous after four recent political surveys reportedly indicated growing public support for BRS. He expressed confidence that BRS will return to power and K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) will once again become the Chief Minister. He also announced that he would conduct a statewide padyatra next year to directly interact with people and understand their concerns, the press note said.
Speaking on the name of TRS, KTR said the party has an emotional connect of 22 years with it and reminded that TRS was the movement that achieved Telangana statehood and later formed the government. He questioned how one could expect Telangana society to accept another party claiming that identity.
Questions also raised on corruption and delimitation
KTR also attacked the state government over alleged corruption in land administration, accusing minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy of running a “30 per cent commission” system in land clearance. The press note said he also demanded that the Center protect the 24% parliamentary representation of the southern states during delimitation, and warned that the South should not be punished for successfully implementing population control.
Expressing confidence in the future of the party, KTR said that BRS will emerge stronger in the upcoming elections and the interests of Telangana will remain the party’s top priority. (ANI)
