An important step has been taken towards cleaning Yamuna in Delhi and promoting clean energy production. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for setting up Compressed Bio Gas (CBG) projects was signed between the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) in the presence of Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah. The objective of this initiative is to increase the production of clean energy and organic fertilizers along with scientific management of cow dung.

Cow dung going into Yamuna will now become CBG and organic fertilizer

Till now, about 1,500 metric tonnes of cow dung used to reach Yamuna every day, which had a serious impact on the pollution of the river. Under the new project, this dung will be scientifically processed and converted into compressed bio gas (CBG) and organic fertilizer.

The government believes that this will reduce pollution in Yamuna, strengthen the cleanliness campaign and give concrete results towards environmental protection. Besides, the agricultural sector is also expected to benefit from the use of organic fertilizers.
