It is alleged that the woman took this step after being fed up with the blackmailing and harassment of another police constable. The incident took place in Hos Siddapura village of Bhadravati taluk. His two younger children have become orphans due to the death of their parents one after the other. This incident of suicide of Swati, wife of a KSRP (Karnataka State Reserve Police) constable in Hos Siddapura of Bhadravati taluk, has created a stir in the police department.
On February 14, Swati’s husband and KSRP police constable Jagdish committed suicide. Jagdish had a severe alcohol addiction and would often fight with his wife, children and mother under the influence of alcohol. Many times the matter escalated so much that it reached the police station, although it was later resolved through a compromise. He often used to say ‘I will die’ while drunk to scare his family members. Similarly, in order to scare him, he hanged himself in the room and died.
Used to send dirty messages on Facebook and WhatsApp
KSRP constable Jagdish and another constable Mohan lived in the neighboring streets of Hos Siddapura village in Bhadravati taluk. Because of this both the families knew each other well. After the death of her husband Jagdish, Swati was very sad thinking about the condition of her family. In such difficult times, police constable Mohan started sending her obscene messages continuously on Facebook and WhatsApp. Not only this, he was also spreading the rumor that Swati was responsible for her husband’s death. Due to this Swati was completely mentally broken. He had told his mother Bhagyamma about Mohan’s harassment. The mother, while consoling her daughter, had said that let your husband complete his 13th birthday and then she will complain to the police. Be courageous now.
Daughter commits suicide by sending message to mother
On the morning of 20 February, Swati sent a WhatsApp message to her mother Bhagyamma’s mobile. In this message he wrote everything about the mental harassment being given by police constable Mohan. She told that being fed up with this she is committing suicide. Swati wrote, ‘Don’t leave police constable Mohan under any circumstances. Take good care of my two small children. After sending this message, he committed suicide by hanging himself.
FIR against police constable Mohan
Now Swati’s family members have filed a complaint against Police Head Constable Mohan at New Town Police Station in Bhadravati, making serious allegations of abetment to suicide, defamation, blackmail and sexual harassment. On the basis of this FIR has been registered. It is being told that police constable Mohan previously worked in Bhadravati only. Once he had sent a WhatsApp message describing police duty as ‘karma duty’, after which he was suspended. He was later transferred to Malur police station in Tirthahalli taluk. Mohan is also accused of running the business of giving money on interest in the village and harassing those who could not repay the money.
Now, after the couple’s deaths one after the other, their two young children have become orphans. At the same time, the police constable who engaged in mental harassment and blackmailing is absconding. New Town Police of Bhadravati has laid a trap to catch him.
