Instagram Viral Video: A video of Mohammad Jamshid Y, a former ground staff employee of IndiGo, who worked at Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru, is becoming increasingly viral on social media. In the video, he has claimed that just because he forgot to wear a tie, he was treated in a manner which he described as against his dignity. He says that after this incident he decided to leave his job.
Former Indigo staff told what happened that day?
According to Jamshid, he had come to Terminal-1 for weekly inspection as part of his duty. Meanwhile, a senior officer noticed that he was not wearing a tie with his uniform. He immediately admitted his mistake, apologized and assured that it would not happen again. After this, the concerned officer called his supervisor and asked how he was allowed to enter the terminal without full uniform. Jamshid says that the supervisor also apologized and then he too was asked to apologize to his supervisor. He did this without any opposition.

Denied on ‘touching feet’
Jamshid alleges that after this he was asked to apologize by touching the feet of his supervisor. According to him, this demand was disrespectful to a professional work space. He respectfully declined to do so. He claims that immediately after his refusal he was asked to leave the terminal. He said the dress code violation was his fault and he was willing to take responsibility for it, but any disciplinary action must be taken in a respectful and professional manner. The matter reached the Ethics Team, but were not satisfied with the outcome.
When his colleagues discussed the matter with him after returning from leave after the incident, he realized that the matter had spread in the office. After this he lodged his complaint with the Ethics and Compliance team of IndiGo. Jamshid also thanked the team for conducting the investigation, but said he was not satisfied with the findings. According to him, he was told that the available CCTV footage could not confirm that he was present in Terminal 1 that day. He questioned this conclusion, saying that the check-in area of the terminal remains under extensive CCTV surveillance.

Didn’t compromise on self-respect so left dream job
The former employee says that this entire incident hurt his self-esteem. After much deliberation, he decided to resign from Indigo. He also said that he is grateful for the opportunities and supportive colleagues he has received at the company, but he believes that any employee should be treated with respect and dignity, not on the basis of position or responsibility.
At present, Jamshid’s video remains a topic of discussion on social media. Several users, who identified themselves as former IndiGo employees, also shared their experiences about the workplace environment. At the same time, many people have demanded an impartial investigation into the matter. Till the time of writing this news, there has been no public response from Indigo on these allegations.
