Now she will come to Kolkata on August 1 to participate in a program of ‘Secular Mission’ and ‘Human Rights and Bangladesh Freedom Fighters Foundation’.

There was a huge controversy over his novel ‘Lajja’ which came in 1993. In this novel, atrocities and violence against minority Hindus of Bangladesh were shown. After the publication of the novel, fundamentalist organizations of Bangladesh accused Taslima of blasphemy, issued a fatwa against her and issued death threats.
Why did you leave Bangladesh?
Taslima Nasreen left Bangladesh in 1994 due to constant death threats from religious organizations and security reasons. After this she lived in many European countries including Sweden and then came to India.
Why did Taslima Nasreen come to India?
Taslima Nasreen had a deep love for the Bengali language and culture of India. For this reason she wanted to come to India, especially to settle in Kolkata. The Indian government also allowed him to stay in the country. But in 2007, the protests against him in Kolkata increased so much that he was shifted from Kolkata to Delhi. At present she is living in Delhi only. It is being said that after Suvendu government came to power in West Bengal, violence has reduced and the environment has become safe, that is why he has decided to return to Kolkata.
