T20 World Cup 2026: Zimbabwe team has qualified for Super-8 in ICC T20 World Cup 2026. However, they have one match left in the group stage, which is to be played against Sri Lanka. After this, they will face big teams like West Indies, India and South Africa in Super-8. Captain Sikandar Raza has a big role behind this historic success. Under the captaincy of Sikandar Raza, the Zimbabwe team has been performing brilliantly for some time and the story of his becoming a cricketer is also quite exciting.

Sikandar Raza’s connection with PAK Air Force

Sikandar Raza is of Pakistani origin, he was born in Sialkot. His dream since childhood was to become a fighter pilot. He studied at Pakistan Air Force Public School and worked hard to become a fighter pilot. Sikandar Raza has trained with the Pakistani Air Force for three and a half years. But his dream remained unfulfilled due to eye problem (vision test failed).

After his Air Force dream was shattered, his family moved to Zimbabwe in 2002. There Sikandar turned to cricket. Sikandar Raza himself had said in an interview that his time spent in the Air Force made him mentally and physically strong. Now Sikandar Raza is going to become the first captain to lead the Zimbabwe team in Super-8. Even though he could not become a fighter pilot, he is a fighter inside him and this same spirit is visible in the Zimbabwe team.

Made international debut in 2013

Sikandar Raza’s international career started in the year 2013. He has so far played 22 Tests, 153 ODIs and 129 T20 matches for Zimbabwe. In Tests he has scored 1434 runs and taken 40 wickets. He has 4476 runs and 94 wickets in his name in ODIs. At the same time, in T20, along with scoring 2913 runs, he has also taken 103 wickets. He is one of the most successful players of Zimbabwe. At the same time, now the team is also showing historic performance under his captaincy.
