Chicken Price Hike: Chicken-egg prices skyrocket, all records broken for the first time in Bengaluru! | Bangalore Chicken And Egg Prices Skyrocket To All Time High

Prices of chicken and eggs are at record high in Bengaluru. Skinless chicken has reached ₹360/kg and egg has reached ₹9. Shortage of supply and export to other states are the main reasons due to which customers and shopkeepers are troubled.

Bengaluru: If you are fond of eating chicken and eggs, then the burden on your pocket is sure to increase. There has been a huge rise in the prices of chicken and eggs in the last one week and the prices have reached their all-time high. This is the first time in history that the prices of chicken and eggs have increased so much, due to which customers are upset.

Chicken prices skyrocketed

The prices of chicken are increasing day by day in Bengaluru city, the situation is such that customers have started thinking before going to the shop. At present, skinless chicken has reached Rs 350 to 360 per kg in the market. (Earlier it was around Rs 300 per kg). Whereas, live/with skin chicken is being sold at Rs 330 to 340 per kg.

Huge jump in egg prices too!

There has also been a huge jump in the prices of eggs. The price of egg which was available for Rs 7 to Rs 7.50 just three days ago has suddenly increased. The price of one egg in the wholesale market is Rs 8, whereas in the retail market, customers are getting one egg for Rs 8.30 to Rs 9.

What is the real reason for increasing prices?

Two main reasons are being cited behind this sudden increase in the prices of chicken and eggs. The first reason is the halting growth of chickens. This time due to change in weather or other reasons the weight of the chickens has not increased properly. Due to this, the supply of chickens in the market has reduced significantly.

The second reason is that locally produced chicken and eggs are being exported in large quantities to other states. Due to this the supply for Bengaluru city has become very less. When supply is low and demand is high, prices are bound to rise.

Both customers and shopkeepers are worried in the market

Due to rising prices, business in the market has completely slowed down. Shopkeepers are worried because due to high prices, customers are shying away from buying chicken and the crowd at the shops has reduced. At the same time, those chicken lovers who are buying out of compulsion are making cuts as per their budget. Customers who earlier used to buy one kilo of chicken are now returning home after buying only 750 grams or half a kilo.

Hotel food can be expensive

If the prices of chicken and eggs continue to rise like this, then in the coming days, chicken biryani, kebabs and egg dishes (like egg rice, omelette etc.) may become expensive in hotels and restaurants. This will put more burden on middle class people.
