Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [भारत]July 14 (ANI): A day after the high-level committee constituted for the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) submitted its final report to Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, the Madhya Pradesh government on Tuesday announced that the draft UCC will be presented in the next cabinet meeting for approval.

Approval will be given in the cabinet meeting

This announcement was made by Cabinet Minister Chaitanya Kumar Kashyap while talking to reporters after the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yadav at Mantralaya in the state capital Bhopal. The committee has recommended keeping Scheduled Tribes out of the scope of the proposed Uniform Civil Code.

He said the draft UCC bill will be introduced in the state assembly during the monsoon session starting next week, after getting cabinet approval at a special meeting at Jagdishpur in Bhopal on July 18. The five-day monsoon session of the state assembly will begin from July 20.

Kashyap said, “The Chief Minister informed the Cabinet that the committee constituted for the Uniform Civil Code has submitted its full report to him. This report has been prepared after discussions with stakeholders from across the state, whose interests may be affected, and after studying the laws in force in other states and the experiences of their implementation. The Chief Minister is committed to introducing this Bill in the Assembly and implementing it in Madhya Pradesh as soon as possible. The report has been prepared in three sections

The high-level committee constituted to draft the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) submitted its final report to Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Monday after completing the work within the stipulated time-frame, according to an official release. The report submitted to the Chief Minister has been compiled in three volumes.

The first section contains the recommendations of the committee. Based on an analysis of international, national and state laws and existing practices, the Committee has presented its recommendations in 10 chapters.

The second section contains the draft of the bill proposed by the committee. The draft law has been prepared in accordance with the laws and rules currently in force in Madhya Pradesh. The proposed bill has 404 sections and seven schedules.

The third section contains the Public Consultation Report, which details the extensive consultations conducted by the Committee at the district and state levels, as well as through its dedicated website. The committee received over 9.58 lakh public responses, and this section includes a detailed analysis of the questionnaire, feedback by gender and community.

The committee has recommended keeping Scheduled Tribes out of the scope of the proposed Uniform Civil Code. The committee was tasked to study the existing legal framework governing various personal and family matters including marriage, divorce, maintenance, succession, adoption and live-in relationships, taking into account the social, cultural and economic conditions of Madhya Pradesh.
