New Delhi: Sri Lanka followed their unconvincing win over Sri Lanka with a dominant victory over Oman in their second match of the T20 World Cup 2026 campaign at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Pallekele.
The co-hosts turned up the heat in the Group B clash and brushed aside the Asian minnows to register a handsome 105-run win in a lopsided contest.
Sent into bat, Sri Lanka posted 225/5 to record the highest total in the T20 World Cup history and their second highest in T20I cricket, thanks to blistering half-centuries from skipper Dasun Shanaka (50 off 20 balls), Kusal Mendis (61 off 45 balls) and Pavan Ratnayake (61 off 28 balls).
In reply, Oman never looked like chasing the massive total and lost wickets regularly throughout the innings. Mohammad Nadeem (53 off 56) was the only one to put up a fight against a clinical bowling line-up as Oman ended up with 120 for 9 in 20 overs.

Dushamantha Chameera and Maheesh Theekshana bagged two wickets each for the Lankan Lions as Oman experienced a humbling defeat after being outclassed and outplayed in all three departments.
Progressing to the Super 8s becomes even more difficult for Oman, who lost their opener to Zimbabwe by 8 wickets.
