New Delhi: Zimbabwe’s Brian Bennett pulled off an absolute screamer to dismiss Nadeem Khan in his side’s T20 World Cup 2026 opener against Oman at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo, on Monday. Benett produced one of the strongest contenders for the Catch of the Tournament with his stunning diving effort near the boundary rope.
The dismissal took place on the penultimate delivery of the 20th over of Oman’s innings, with Nadeem facing Zimbabwe pacer Brad Evans in the middle. Nadeem tried to get hold of a slower delivery from Evans, which was angled into him. He didn’t make a great connection, and the ball seemed to be landing in no-man’s land.
However, Bennett pulled off an incredible running catch to send the left-hander packing. He came running from the deep mid-wicket area and dived full stretch at the last moment to complete a stunning catch while being airborne. It was a brilliant effort from the Zimbabwe batter, who arguably pulled off one of the catches of the tournament so far.

The stunning grab from Bennett was labelled the Catch of the Tournament by many on social media as fans were left in awe of his reflexes and athleticism on the field. Thanks to his magnificent effort, Nadeem was dismissed after scoring 20 off 18 balls as Zimbabwe bowled out Oman for 103 runs in 19.5 overs.
Zimbabwe pacers dominate against Oman
Zimbabwe’s pacers dominated the proceedings with the ball after winning the toss and asking Oman to bat first in the game. Evans, Blessing Muzarabani and Richard Ngarava picked up three wickets apiece to help Zimbabwe bundle out Oman for a paltry 103 runs with a ball to spare.
Muzarabani ran through Oman’s top order, while Evans and Ngarava combined to wrap up the lower middle order and the tail. It became the first instance of pacers taking as many as 9 wickets in a match in a T20 World Cup. Zimbabwe will hope to chase down the low-key target comfortably to begin their campaign with a win in the T20 World Cup 2026.
