New Delhi [भारत]July 13 (ANI): A Delhi Police constable allegedly shot his wife dead on the road following a dispute in East Delhi’s Kalyanpuri area on Sunday evening. Police said the couple was on a scooter when an argument broke out between them. The constable stopped the car and fired at his wife and ran away. The incident was witnessed by four to five passersby, who took the woman to a nearby hospital in an autorickshaw. Later he died. The search for the accused is going on and the police is scanning CCTV footage to trace the absconding constable. More details are awaited.

Cousin shot dead in Mathura

In a separate incident, a man was allegedly shot dead by his cousin during a family function in Mathura on Sunday. According to Circle Officer Praveen Tiwari, the Highway Police Station received information about the incident in which the accused shot his cousin. Tiwari said, “The Highway Police Station received information that Pawan Chaudhary had shot dead his cousin… As soon as the information was received, the SHO (Station House Officer) of the Highway Police Station and I immediately inspected the spot. The accused was immediately taken into police custody on the spot along with his licensed pistol.”

According to the police media cell, during preliminary interrogation the police said that the accused claimed that he had committed the crime because of the alleged illicit relationship between the deceased and the accused’s wife. Tiwari further said, “Preliminary investigation reveals that the accused committed this crime due to the alleged illicit relationship between the deceased and the wife of the accused. We are currently conducting inquest proceedings for the deceased.” “We are currently conducting inquest proceedings for the deceased,” the officer said. Further investigation is underway.

Earlier on Sunday, officials said Mathura police had arrested one of the firing accused after a brief exchange of fire. Officials said multiple raids were conducted to trace the accused who shot and injured his colleague in Khamani village on July 2, after a complaint was lodged over the incident. (ANI)
