Railway Minister told when the remaining sections will start

The Railway Minister said, “The work on the first bullet train project between Mumbai and Ahmedabad is going on at a fast pace. Next year we will start the first section of the bullet train between Surat and Bilimora.” The remaining sections of the corridor will also be opened phase wise. He said, “Soon after this, we will open the sections one by one. First from Vapi to Surat, then from Vapi to Ahmedabad, then from Ahmedabad to Thane and then from Ahmedabad to Mumbai. In this way, we will start it in a phased manner from next year.”

Till now 261 stations have been newly constructed

  • The minister also gave an update on the ‘renovation’ of railway stations across the country. He said that till now the work of 261 stations has been completed at ‘unprecedented speed’.

Redevelopment of railways is happening without stopping traffic

  • “Whenever there is redevelopment of railways in the world, they stop the traffic. We cannot stop the traffic. We have to be careful while the traffic is moving. We are creating an air concourse like a roof over all the platforms while the trains are actually running. We are working diligently keeping in mind safety and quality,” the minister said.
  • Speaking to reporters after the event at Novotel Hyderabad Convention Centre, Minister Vaishnav said the high-speed corridors will connect regional economies and change the landscape of cities.

Three high-speed bullet train corridors to Hyderabad

  • The minister said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given three high-speed bullet train corridors to Hyderabad, which will change its landscape. Pune to Hyderabad, Hyderabad to Chennai and Hyderabad to Bengaluru – this will be a big game-changer for the entire region. Hyderabad will become a high-speed hub. This will lead to massive development and the economies of the entire region will be completely interconnected,” the minister said.
  • Talking about the growth in the technology sector, Vaishnav said that Telangana has benefited a lot from the Centre’s electronics manufacturing program.
