Bangalore: A new twist into the circumstances that led to the death of Businessman CJ Roy has emerged. A nine-page suicide note written by CJ Roy, who died by suicide during an Income Tax Department investigation, has been recovered and is now a key focus of the ongoing probe, police sources said.
According to news reports, the handwritten note contains extensive personal, financial and business details, offering what investigators describe as crucial leads into the circumstances surrounding Roy’s death. The document is currently being examined in detail by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted to probe the case.
The note reportedly begins with Roy apologizing to his family, seeking forgiveness as he described taking his “final step”. While the language reflects emotional distress, investigators noted that the contents are structured and detailed, outlining clear instructions on both personal and professional matters.
Reports said Roy recorded specific financial information in the note, including details of money owed to him, and clearly named successors to manage his business affairs after his death. He also made a strong appeal that long-serving employees of the Confident Group should not be removed, describing them as trusted colleagues who should continue with the organisation.
Police said statements of Roy’s wife and children are now being recorded as part of the investigation. Investigators believe the financial disclosures mentioned in the note will help verify certain claims and establish a clearer timeline of events.
Sources further revealed that Roy had previously discussed several financial matters with his wife, particularly relating to funds extended to others. He had also spoken publicly about this in a recent YouTube interview, stating that his wife was aware of many of his business dealings. In view of this, SIT officials are expected to question her in greater detail after funeral rites are completed, as she is believed to have substantial knowledge of his financial records and business operations.
