A daughter-in-law and her lover burnt her father-in-law alive for protesting against their illicit relationship in Cuddalore, Tamil Nadu. The victim has suffered 70% burns and is in critical condition. The police have arrested 4 accused including the daughter-in-law.
Cuddalore: An incident has happened in Cuddalore district of Tamil Nadu, which has shaken the entire society. Here an elderly man was allegedly burnt alive by his daughter-in-law and her daughter-in-law’s lover. The seriously injured victim has been admitted to the hospital. According to the police, 64-year-old Rajendran was protesting against the illicit relationship between his daughter-in-law Jayapriya and her lover Manikandan. There was a fight going on in the family regarding this matter for many days and due to this rivalry this terrible incident happened.

On the day of the incident, when Rajendran was going on a bike, accused Manikandan and his associates stopped him on the way. After this, they poured petrol on Rajendran, set him on fire in front of everyone and fled from the spot. The video of Rajendran screaming while burning in the fire has gone viral on social media, due to which people are very angry. According to doctors, Rajendran’s body has suffered burns up to 70 percent and he is battling between life and death in the hospital.
Four accused arrested
After registering the case, Cuddalore police swiftly started investigation and arrested four people including the main accused Manikandan and daughter-in-law Jayapriya. Police said that everyone has been produced in the court and sent on remand. Police say that it is a matter of concern that illicit relations are not limited to family disputes only, but are also proving fatal.
