New Delhi: Before Ford had even started delivering the Mustang GTD, the carmaker rolled out a special edition called the Spirit of America. It was just an appearance package with some red, white and blue accents. The automaker is now preparing to launch a new iteration of the car to mark 250 years of America.
The updated Mustang GTD Spirit of America continues to come with the Performance White Body, but Ford accents it with an asymmetrical livery, the only noticeable change. As per the brand, the offset pattern “reinterprets” the legendary Mustang tri-bar.”
The spoiler plates and side mirrors are painted red, while the backside of the spoiler comes with Mustang written in big white letters, much like the first ‘Spirit of America’. Ford hasn’t provided the interior images, so it could be that the automaker hasn’t made many changes, with 3D-printed titanium accents still being there.

Much like before, the Mustang GTD Spirit of America 2.0 is just an appearance package. The supercharged 5.2-litre V8 makes the same 815 hp and 900 Nm of torque, and has 325 kph. The car gets the GTD’s Performance Pack, which enhances its aerodynamics and weight. There is also an added dive plane, a bigger splitter, and an underbody flap.
With American independence approaching, many other brands from the country are expected to follow suit. Ford has been keeping the flag of the muscle cars high, having only last month brought the Mustang Dark Horse SC that makes 795 hp. Ford Mustang GTD last month went around the Nurburgring and went past the Corvette ZR1X’s record in the circuit.
In fact, the Mustang GTD is the quickest street-legal American-made car at the circuit, going faster by 8 seconds than the ZR1X. Of course, the car wasn’t the usual muscle car coming to the platform and had been thoroughly upgraded.
