When was the temple built
This temple of Pushkar, one of the few temples dedicated to Lord Brahma, was built in the 14th century. It has beautifully carved silver turtle, which is installed on the marble floor with silver coins donated by various visitors. The sanctum sanctorum of the temple has a four -faced statue of Brahma ji with his bride Gayatri. Pushkar has several temples dedicated to other gods. The Varaha temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu in the incarnation of Jungle Pig (Varaha). The Opteshwar Temple is an underground Shiva temple with a linga. Finally, Savitri Temple dedicated to Brahma’s wife Savitri is situated on a hill behind the Brahma temple, and presents a beautiful view of the lake.
Temple mythology
According to a legend, once Brahma ji thought of performing a yajna for the welfare of devotees on earth. To choose the place for the yajna, he sent one of his lotus flowers to the earth and the place where the lotus fell, Brahma chose him for the yajna. This place was the city of Pushkar in Rajasthan, where a pond was formed by falling a part of that flower. After that Brahma ji reached Pushkar to perform a yagna, but his wife Savitri did not reach on time. The auspicious time of the Yajna was passing, but Savitri had no address. All the deities had reached the place of sacrifice. In such a situation, Brahma ji revealed Gayatri from the mouth of Nandini cow and married her and started her yagna in auspicious time. After some time, Savitri reached the place of sacrifice and became angry after seeing another woman next to Brahma ji. Savitri cursed Brahma ji that she will not be worshiped anywhere on this earth. Seeing this curse, when all the gods and goddesses begged Savitri, they withdrew the curse and said that Brahma ji will be worshiped only in Pushkar on earth. Since then this temple was built.
Pushkar located on the banks of lake
This temple is situated on the banks of Pushkar Lake and is one of the oldest temples of Brahma Dev. This temple attracts tourists and devotees every year. It is said that seeing the beauty of Pushkar, Brahma Dev himself chose this temple. According to ancient texts, Pushkar is the only place in the world where the temple of Brahma Ji is established and this place is said to be the king of the holy sites of Hindus.
How is the structure of the temple
According to the Puranas, this temple was built about 2000 years ago. But according to the current architecture of the temple, this temple is believed to be built in the 14th century. Pushkar is also called the city of temples, but during the reign of Aurangzeb, most of the Hindu temples here were destroyed, but even today the Brahma temple and other temples are located on the banks of Pushkar Lake.
