According to a legend, once Brahma ji thought of performing a yajna for the welfare of devotees on earth. To choose the place for the yajna, he sent one of his lotus flowers to the earth and the place where the lotus fell, Brahma chose him for the yajna. This place was the city of Pushkar in Rajasthan, where a pond was formed by falling a part of that flower. After that Brahma ji reached Pushkar to perform a yagna, but his wife Savitri did not reach on time. The auspicious time of the Yajna was passing, but Savitri had no address. All the deities had reached the place of sacrifice. In such a situation, Brahma ji revealed Gayatri from the mouth of Nandini cow and married her and started her yagna in auspicious time. After some time, Savitri reached the place of sacrifice and became angry after seeing another woman next to Brahma ji. Savitri cursed Brahma ji that she will not be worshiped anywhere on this earth.
