The Uttarakhand High Court has banned the breaking of the houses of the slums in the Vikas Nagar area of Dehradun. The court says that notices to sabotage violate the principles of natural justice. On Saturday, a bench of Chief Justice G. Narendra and Justice Ashish Naithani made this comment on a PIL (PIL) while hearing the matter.
During the hearing, the bench said that notices were issued to vandalize without giving the opportunity of hearing, which is not correct. The bench ordered that there will be a ban on sabotage till the next order of the court. This order of the court has brought great relief to the slums.
Notice received to demolish properties
According to the PIL, the petitioners are residents of various villages of Vikas Nagar in Dehradun district and are legitimate citizens of the country. He received notice on 5 April. These notice states that their properties are to be demolished as they are made on water bodies, seasonal water streams and drains. The petition claimed that the administration issued notices without confirming the property details.
Valid documents of property present
It has also been said in the petition that most of the people who get the notice are illiterate and come from the lower sections of the society who do not have any correct information about the results. Along with this, it has also been claimed that people who were issued notices have valid documents of property to prove their ownership and most of them have nothing to do with water bodies and water streams.
At the same time, pictures of the area obtained from the satellite show that people who have received notices of sabotage, they stay far away from seasonal water streams, drains and water bodies. Their houses are not there. It has also been told in the petition that the victims will file a property of property that prove their ownership in the High Court by April 15.
