
Tariff war has sparked between the US and China. The US imposed a tariff of 145 percent on China. At the same time, China also imposed a counter -tariff of 125 percent on America. Amidst this tariff war, the Trump administration has removed the reciperoch tariff from smartphones and electronic goods. On this, the ICEA said on Sunday that after the exemption given by the Donald Trump administration of America, the export of iPhones, smartphones, tablets, laptops to the US from India will be cheaper than the goods sent from China.
The US took a big decision on the tariff on Saturday. Smartphones, tablets, laptops and some other electronic devices were exempted from new taxes. The ICEA chairman said that China still has 20 percent tax for iPhones, laptops, tablets and watches. Only retaliation for China has been removed. There is zero fee on all iPhones, smartphones, laptops and tablets to be exported from India to America. There is also zero fee for Vietnam. Therefore, India and Vietnam will directly benefit from this decision of America.
IPhone has exports in crores
India Cellular and Electronics Association smartphone companies such as Apple, Foxconn, Dixon are included. A large number of people have got employment due to becoming Apple iPhone in India. India will increase India’s exports with the discount of tariffs compared to China, which will benefit the country. Still India gives America especially iPhone to the US on a large scale.
According to the ICEA, mobile phone exports from India have crossed an all-time high level of Rs 2 lakh crore in 2024-25, which is 55 percent higher than Rs 1.29 lakh crore recorded in 2023-24. The export of iPhone alone in the smartphone section is worth Rs 1.5 lakh crore.
