Dermatologist Skin Tips: Can dark circles be completely eliminated? Are ‘chemical-free’ and natural products always safe? Know the truth of 10 big myths related to skincare and the scientific facts told by the doctor.
We often ignore skin problems. These problems increase over time due to incorrect information. Dermatologist Dr. Aanchal Panth has told about 10 such myths, which people often consider to be true. Know what things should be kept in mind during skin care and what can increase the problem.
Myth: Dark circles cannot be completely eliminated.
Dark circles are caused by genetics, thin skin under the eyes and visible blood vessels. Also due to pigmentation, bone structure and fat. Creams may improve hydration for some time, but dark circles do not disappear completely.
Myth: Being natural always means better for the skin.
Natural things are not always good for the skin. Some ingredients may irritate, cause allergies, or be unstable. Lemon juice or essential oil can cause skin problems. Safety comes from testing and formulation.
Myth: Chemical-free means a perfect product for the skin.
“Chemical-free” is just a marketing ploy. Everything is chemical including water and oxygen. In such labels, things are written that mislead people. The product is sold by spreading fear.
Myth: If you have good skin, you can recommend it to anyone.
Just because someone’s skin is good, doesn’t mean they have the right to give advice. The same advice doesn’t apply to everyone’s biology. Dermatology completely depends on science and you should only consult a doctor.
Myth: Non-comedogenic means no acne.
“Non-comedogenic” means something is less likely to clog pores, but it’s not a sure thing. “Non-comedogenic” products can also cause acne on sensitive or acne-prone skin.
Myth: Skin healing can happen quickly.
Be it acne or any other skin problem, doctors believe that it takes time to heal. If someone claims quick healing from you, you should not believe it.
Myth: You can’t reverse aging easily.
If such posts are being made on social media, then do not believe them. With increasing age, collagen, elastin and fat naturally reduce in the skin. Can’t change it.

Myth: Most skin problems can be completely cured.
Problems like acne, rosacea, eczema and psoriasis are not completely cured. These can be controlled but not completely cured.
Myth: Parabens are not good for the skin
Parabens have been extensively researched and are used in very small, safe amounts. These do not allow bacteria and fungus to grow in the products and protect them from infection.
Myth: All problems are solved with skin care creams.
Poor sleep, stress and poor diet increase inflammation and breakouts, on which even creams do not have much effect.
