BMW Motorrad’s affordable single cylinder bikes have been closed in India. Here BMW G310R and BMW G310GS are talking about bikes, which have been removed from the company’s Indian portfolio. Both bikes were available for sale in India for about 8 years. BMW Motorrad, along with TVS motor, first entered the affordable single-cylinder bike segment. Its production TVS was motor.
The special thing is that with the new 310 bikes, BMW did the first time in the market with the lowest price point. This is the reason why they got help in increasing sales in a very market like India. These bikes were launched in 2018 and were available for sale in India for the last 8 years.
This is the reason for closing the bike
This step has been taken after the closure of BMW is implemented after the implementation of new and more tight BS6 OBD2B emission criteria, which have been implemented on all vehicles sold since 1 April 2025. The production of these bikes was discontinued in January 2025. The sale was stopped a few days ago after 1 April 2025.
Customers did not get according to expectation
In these 8 years, the BMW 310cc motorcycle sold very little in the Indian market. This can be caused by many reasons, the main ones of which are high of the price and will not be compatible according to the market. Competition in this segment has increased considerably in India in the last few years. Over time it became even better, but this did not happen in BMW 310 bikes.
Now what will the company do next?
It is worth noting that the sale of BMW G310 RR Supersport Bike is still going on. This is a rebaz version of TVS Apache RR 310. BMW Motorrad has not revealed that this bike will continue for sale in India or its recent recent roadster and adventure tourist bikes. It is expected that in future BMW Motorrad and TVS can jointly launch many new bikes on twin-cylinder 450 platforms.
