Delay in reaching hospital, woman lost her life

A woman died of snake bite in Hangzhou city. According to reports, she could not reach the hospital on time due to floods and road closures. After this incident, the local administration has appealed to the people living in flood affected areas not to enter the water unnecessarily and to immediately inform the administration if they see any snake.

Along with humans, animals are also affected by floods.

Guangxi is considered to be China’s largest commercial snake farming area, where about 30 million snakes are reared for traditional medicines, leather and meat. This time the flood has caused huge damage not only to snake farms but also to pig farms, wood industry and jasmine cultivation. About 100 animals from a local zoo, including alpacas, miniature pigs and zebras, also escaped after their enclosures were breached.

According to government data, so far six people have died in this natural disaster and about 1.3 lakh people have been evacuated to safe places. More than 8,000 personnel and around 5,700 boats have been deployed in relief operations. The administration is constantly keeping an eye on floods and new threats related to them.
