Karnataka CM DK Shivakumar visited North Karnataka along with ministers to take stock of the rain and crop situation. He has warned the officials of strict action against negligence in the drought situation and said that he will also talk to the MLAs and the public.

Belagavi (Karnataka) [भारत]July 9 (ANI): Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Thursday said the state government is closely monitoring the rainfall situation and crop condition across North Karnataka.

Speaking to reporters in Belagavi, CM Shivakumar said that the inspection tour started from Basavakalyan and after covering Bidar and Kalaburagi, he reached Belagavi.

Rain and crop review in North Karnataka

He said, “We have to observe the rain situation and crops. We have started from Basavakalyan. After completing Basavakalyan, we went to Bidar, and from Bidar to Gulbarga. We have completed that and have come here. Today we are in Belagavi.”

The CM said that all his cabinet colleagues are accompanying him on this tour. He said the team will review the situation in detail and also discuss with local MLAs and the public.

“All my ministers are here with me. We will review everything. We will also talk to the MLAs and all of you. Don’t worry, we are not leaving without talking to you,” Shivakumar assured. He appealed for cooperation from the public in dealing with rain related issues and wished people all the best.

Warning to officials on negligence

On Tuesday, CM Shivakumar had warned that strict action would be taken against officials found negligent in managing the drought situation in the state.

Addressing the first divisional-level progress review meeting of North Karnataka in Kalaburagi, the Chief Minister said he would not tolerate dereliction of duty by officials.

He said, “The main goal of my government is to provide clean governance, development and civil rights to the last person, inclusive of everyone. To achieve this goal, the authorities must work in a very proactive, pro-people and responsible manner.”

Referring to his administrative experience, the Chief Minister said that he has worked at various levels from Taluk Panchayat President to Chief Minister. “Therefore, I am well aware of what happens at every level of administration. I am not ready to listen to any excuses when it comes to development. Results are important for me.”

“If you will not work for the people, I will be forced to take action against you,” he warned the officials. (ANI)
