India Faces Heavy Rainfall: IMD Issues Warnings for Multiple States

India is currently experiencing significant rainfall as monsoon conditions remain prevalent in various regions. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has released a weather forecast for Sunday, August 31, indicating widespread precipitation across the nation.

In Northwest India, states such as Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, and Punjab are expected to receive heavy rainfall. Meanwhile, in Western India, Maharashtra and Gujarat will experience light to moderate showers. In the eastern and central parts of the country, heavy rainfall is anticipated in West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, and Madhya Pradesh.

Northeast and Southern India Weather

The Northeast region, particularly Arunachal Pradesh, will continue to face heavy downpours, while Assam, Meghalaya, and nearby areas are likely to experience thunderstorms and lightning. In South Peninsular India, heavy rainfall is expected, especially in Coastal Karnataka, Kerala, and Telangana.

Monsoon Trough Position

The monsoon trough is currently situated over Bikaner, Ajmer, Guna, Damoh, Durg, Chandbali, and extends east-southeast towards the central Bay of Bengal.

IMD Rainfall Alerts

The IMD has forecasted heavy to very heavy rainfall in states including Rajasthan, Arunachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Goa, Maharashtra, Punjab, Sub Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Uttarakhand, and West Madhya Pradesh. Additionally, heavy rainfall is expected in Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Kerala, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Saurashtra, Kutch, and Vidarbha.

Thunderstorm Warnings

Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds (30-40 km/h) are likely in Bihar, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Odisha, Sub Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, and Telangana. Rainfall with thunderstorms is also expected in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Chhattisgarh, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Goa, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.

Weather Forecast for Delhi

The IMD indicates that active monsoon conditions will persist in Delhi over the next five days. The sky is expected to remain cloudy with a chance of light rain or thundershowers during the early hours of Sunday, August 31. The maximum temperature is projected to be between 31-33 degrees Celsius.
