Deepika Padukone made headlines for several weeks after stepping away from Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s upcoming film Spirit. The actress reportedly exited the project due to disagreements over working hours and remuneration.
As a new mother, Padukone had requested a strict eight-hour workday, a condition the director is said to have declined.
Now recently, while promoting his next release Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan, Vikrant Massey spoke on the issue, backing her as he said, “As a young mother I think she deserves it.”
Vikrant Massey backs Deepika Padukone’s Spirit controversy
During a candid chat with Firstpost on account of promotions of his upcoming film Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan, Vikrant Massey spoke on the on-going talks of working hours as he said, “I want to do that myself. And I hope to achieve that. Maybe in a couple of years I will go out there and tell people that ‘yes, great, you know I’d love to work with you, we can collaborate, but I would only work for 8 hours’. But at the same time, it should be a choice.
He also spoke on the paycheck matter saying, “I need to be cognizant of the fact that I would need to reduce my fee for it. If I cannot give my producer 12 hours a day, I cannot go out there and not reduce my fee. I ought to reduce my fee. It’s a give and take. Right?”
He ended by saying, “So yeah, I think it definitely works. And as a young mother I think she deserves it.”
