8th Pay Commission Latest News: Big news is coming regarding salary and pension of central employees. The work of the 8th Pay Commission has now gained momentum. A new and clear schedule has come out regarding how much the salary will increase, how much the allowances will increase and what the new pension structure will be. This panel led by former Supreme Court judge Ranjana Prakash Desai is now going to start a round of talks by meeting directly with the employees and their organizations. 50 lakh employees and 65 lakh pensioners affected
The decisions of this commission are going to have a direct impact on a large part of the country. This new change will improve the salary and allowances of about 50 lakh central employees. The pension amount of about 65 lakh pensioners (which also includes retired soldiers and defense staff) will increase.
The panel will reach your city in June and July
The committee is visiting different states and taking feedback from the employee organizations and unions there. Earlier in the month of May, initial talks had been held with Delhi, Hyderabad, Railways and defense related organizations.
When and where will the meeting take place?
A meeting will be held in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir from June 1 to 4, in which local employee organizations and stakeholders will participate. There will be a meeting in Ladakh on June 8, in which discussions will be held with regional employee groups. On June 22 and 23, a meeting will be held in Lucknow, the capital of UP, in which employees and union representatives of the state will come. The team will reach Bhubaneswar in Odisha on July 6 and 7 and will talk to representatives of central departments of the state.
When will the increased money arrive? (possible timeline)
31 May 2026 (Last Date): This is the last date to send your suggestions or memorandum to the Commission. Suggestions received after this will not be considered.
February 2027 (submission of report): This commission, formed in November 2025, may take time till February 2027 to prepare its final report and recommendations.
2029 to 2030 (fully implemented): After the report comes, the government will consider it and it may take time from 2029 to 2030 to be completely implemented on the ground.
