Kieron Pollard becomes second player in cricket history to cross 14000-run mark

New Delhi: Flamboyant all-rounder Kieron Pollard added a major milestone to his illustrious career after becoming just the second cricketer in history to surpass the 14000-run mark. Pollard joined fellow West Indies cricketer Chris Gayle in the elusive club of cricketers. The fierce batter achieved the record during a CPL 2025 match on Friday between Trinbago Knight Riders and Barbados Royals.

Notably, Gayle has scored 14562 runs in the shortest format of the game and leads the list while Pollard now has 14000 runs to his name. He achieved the milestone for Trinbago Knight Riders against Barbados Royals also scripting a record in the CPL for most sixes. The 38-year-old broke Evin Lewis’ record for most sixes in the CPL. Lewis has 203 maximums in 111 matches while Pollard surpassed by hitting the his 204th six in his 130th game.

Chance to become leading T20 scorer

Interestingly, Gayle is no longer active in the T20 cricket which leaves a door open for Pollard to surpass Gayle and become the leading run-scorer in the format. Pollard needs just 562 runs to break the milestone. Meanwhile, the 38-year-old smashed just 19 runs off nine balls to complete the milestone. During his short stay, he smashes a six eventually breaking Lewis’ record for most sixes.

Meanwhile in the game, Colin Munro’s 67 and Nicholas Pooran’s 65 helped the Knight Riders chase down the score of 179 in just 17.5 overs. Alex Hales also contributed with 19 runs in the chase as they beat the Royals by 7 wickets. With this win, they have strengthened their position at the top of the table with four victories out of five.

Meanwhile batting first, Sherfane Rutherford scored 45 runs while Kadeem Alleyne contributed 21 as Barbados scored 178/6 in stipulated 20 overs. Skipper Rovman Powell’s 15-ball 31-run knock was filled with three sixes. Andre Russell scalped three wickets for Knight Riders.
