This buffalo weighing about 700 kg was sold for sacrifice on Bakrid. But as soon as it appeared on social media, the Home Ministry of Bangladesh had to intervene due to the huge interest of the people in it. Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed himself gave instructions in this matter. He banned the sacrifice of buffalo and ordered the buyer to return his money.

After this, ‘Trump’ was sent to the National Zoo in the capital Dhaka. There a special enclosure has been prepared for him and an employee has also been hired to take care of him. It has been kept in quarantine for two weeks before being shown to the general public. This buffalo was on the farm of Ziauddin Mrida, a farmer from Keraniganj on the outskirts of Dhaka.

The owner of the farm told that his younger brother had named the buffalo ‘Trump’ after seeing its looks. Bangladesh has mostly black cattle, so white buffaloes are rarely seen. Animal Husbandry Department officials say that this buffalo is still young and can be reared well for many years to come. For this reason it was decided to save it and send it to the zoo.
