Whoever becomes the champion of IPL 2026, but in the coming years, this season will be especially remembered for Vaibhav Suryavanshi. This 15 year old opener of Rajasthan Royals has blown everyone’s senses with his amazing batting. He is giving unforgettable blows to the bowlers. In such a situation, it is clear that he is very dangerous for the bowlers. But former Indian team spinner Ravichandran Ashwin called this young batsman dangerous for the environment. Ashwin said this because Vaibhav does not play any dot ball, whereas BCCI plants many trees on every dot ball.

Vaibhav’s batting storm was once again seen in the eliminator match played between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals on 27th May. This left-handed opener did the same to every bowler of SRH including Pat Cummins. Vaibhav not only broke Chris Gayle’s record of 59 sixes but also played a devastating inning of 97 runs in just 29 balls. Although Vaibhav could not break Chris Gayle’s record of century in just 30 balls, he again caught everyone’s attention.

Vaibhav treated the bowlers in such a way that the ball was visible beyond the boundary on most of the occasions. In such a situation, Ravichandran Ashwin, who was doing commentary, said that Vaibhav Suryavanshi is not good for the environment because he does not play dot ball. Ashwin had actually said this in a humorous manner because BCCI has launched a special campaign regarding dot balls in IPL. Under this, in exchange for the number of dot balls bowled by the bowlers in any match, i.e. the number of balls on which no runs are scored, BCCI and IPL title sponsor Tata together plant hundreds of trees in different parts of the country.

This campaign of BCCI is about environmental protection. In such a situation, if a batsman like Vaibhav Suryavanshi keeps hitting fours and sixes continuously, then there will be less dot balls and in such a situation there will be less trees. Just citing this, Ashwin made this comment in a funny manner and praised this 15 year old young batsman. Now hardly anyone would disagree with what Ashwin has said.

What Ashwin said was in jest but in reality Vaibhav has made a joke of bowling in this IPL. This batsman has so far scored the maximum of 680 runs with an astonishing strike rate of 243. He has also hit 65 sixes and also scored a century. He has completed half-centuries in 15 or 16 balls at least three times this season. Against Sunrisers, he hit 8 sixes in the powerplay itself, which many batsmen are not able to hit in the entire innings.
