Temple Donation Controversy: Ayodhya’s Ram temple is currently in controversy regarding donations, the matter was not even resolved when irregularities in the offerings came to light in a big and famous temple of Madhya Pradesh.

Agar Malwa (Madhya Pradesh): There has been a stir over allegations of financial irregularities in donations and offerings at Maa Baglamukhi temple located in Agar Malwa district of Madhya Pradesh. After this, the district administration has formed a committee of three members to investigate the matter. This committee will investigate whether any non-government committee was depositing the cash, gold and silver offerings received from the devotees in their personal bank accounts, separate from the government temple management committee. The committee has to submit its investigation report within seven days.

  • Agar Malwa Collector Preeti Yadav issued this order on July 7. The chairman of this investigation committee is District Panchayat CEO B.S. Must be Solanki. Along with him, District Treasury Officer Manish Solanki and Chief Municipal Officer of Nalkheda Municipal Council Mini Aggarwal have been made members.
  • The order said, “According to the complaints received regarding Maa Baglamukhi temple of Nalkheda, it is alleged that a non-government committee, separate from the government temple management committee, was taking donations in the form of cash and gold and silver jewelery from the devotees in the temple premises. There have also been serious allegations of use of personal bank accounts and financial irregularities. A joint investigation committee of three members has been formed for a fair and thorough investigation of the matter.”
  • The Collector has directed the committee to investigate whether any non-government or unregistered committee was running a parallel system to collect donations and offerings in the temple premises. Along with this, receipt books, bank accounts and other records will also be examined to know how much cash, gold and silver was found and its accounting.

Who is involved in the financial irregularities?

  • Apart from examining the financial records, the committee will also find out whether any government official, employee, any official of the temple management or any other person was involved in the alleged irregularities.
  • The Collector has directed the committee to immediately inspect the temple premises, collect necessary evidence, record statements of the people concerned and submit its report and suggestions within seven days.
