Indian travellers heading to Japan can breathe easy. While Japan increased visa fees for most foreign nationals from July 1, 2026, the Embassy of Japan in India has confirmed that Indian passport holders will continue to pay just ₹500 for both single-entry and multiple-entry visas.
The clarification ends confusion created by Japan’s new global visa fee schedule. For Indians, the long-standing concessional visa fee remains unchanged, making Japan one of the cheapest international destinations for visa applications from India.
Japan Visa Fees in India
The revised fee structure in India is now as follows:
For Indian passport holders:
- Single-entry visa: ₹500
- Multiple-entry visa: ₹500
- Transit visa: Discontinued
- VFS service charges apply separately.
For other foreign nationals applying in India:
- Single-entry visa: ₹8,650
- Multiple-entry or double-entry visa: ₹17,350
- Transit visa: Discontinued
- VFS service charges apply separately.
