Tripura CM Manik Saha said on the birth anniversary of Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee that his philosophy of life will teach patriotism to future generations. Saha laid the foundation stone of a 13-feet tall bronze statue of Mukherjee in Agartala and said the statue would become a center of inspiration.
Agartala (Tripura) [भारत]July 7 (ANI): Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Monday said the life philosophy of Dr Syama Prasad Mukherjee will help future generations learn the values of honesty, duty, self-sacrifice and patriotism. He said, “It will help in building a strong nation. Therefore, the more Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee is studied, the more the society and the country will benefit.”
The 125th birth anniversary of Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee was celebrated yesterday and the event was inaugurated by Chief Minister Manik Saha at the Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee Town Hall. He said that Shyama Prasad Mukherjee was a great patriot, renowned educationist, member of Parliament and a visionary politician.
“He was an extraordinary personality who made significant contributions to education, society, culture and national life at an early age. He was uncompromising on the issue of protecting the unity, integrity and national cohesion of the country,” the Chief Minister said.
Mukherjee’s bronze statue will be installed in Agartala
Before the program began, Saha laid the foundation stone of a 13-foot tall bronze statue of Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee by unveiling a plaque and performing Bhoomi Pujan in the Town Hall premises.
Later, while inaugurating the birth anniversary programme, the Chief Minister said, “The foundation stone laid for the statue of Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee is not just the beginning of a construction project; it is a symbol of deep respect for our history and national values. This statue will help future generations to know about his life and works and inspire them with the ideals of service to the nation. For the present and new generations, this statue will become an inspiring center of patriotism and national consciousness.”
The Chief Minister further said that there were many politicians in the country who sacrificed their lives for the nation, but their history has not been properly highlighted. He said, “Politicians like Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee and Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay taught us to serve the country. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is following their ideals and taking the country forward in the direction of development.”
Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor and MLA Deepak Majumdar, MLAs Abhishek Debroy and Minarani Sarkar, Women Commission Chairperson Jharna Debbarma, Agartala Municipal Corporation Deputy Mayor Manika Das Dutta, councilors of various wards of Agartala Municipal Corporation, Information and Culture Department Secretary Pradeep Kumar Chakraborty and State Level Cultural Advisory Committee Vice Chairman Subrata Chakraborty were present in this programme.
