Bulandshahr (Uttar Pradesh) [भारत]July 5 (ANI): An alleged cattle thief was injured in a police encounter in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr district. When a police team was trying to arrest a group of suspects, they allegedly opened fire on the police team, officials said.
Police said five other accused have been arrested, while one person managed to escape and a search operation is underway to trace him. An illegal .315 bore pistol, one live cartridge, one kiosk, one pickup truck and two buffaloes have been recovered from their possession.
Encounter between police and cattle thieves in Bulandshahr
Secunderabad Area Officer Deepak Tiwari said that the police had received specific information on Saturday about a group trying to force a buffalo into a vehicle near the cattle market. He said, “On July 4, the police received information that some cattle thieves were trying to cart a buffalo near the cattle market. Acting on this information, the police immediately reached the spot. As soon as they saw the police, the people present there started firing. In retaliation, a person was shot in the left leg.”
He further said that five people were taken into custody while one accused managed to escape from the spot. “Additionally, five people were arrested, while one person managed to escape. A search is on for him. Initial investigation has revealed that these people are habitual criminals,” he said.
“An illegal .315 bore pistol, one live cartridge, one kiosk, one pickup truck and two buffaloes have been recovered from the arrested persons,” he said.
Encounter in Mathura also, one accused arrested
In a separate incident in Mathura district, police arrested an accused in a firing case after a brief encounter. During this, he allegedly fired at the police team. According to officials, the accused was wanted in connection with an incident that took place in Khamni village on July 2, where a man was shot and injured. The police conducted several raids before catching him.
Deputy superintendent of police (DSP) and range officer, Mathura, Praveen Kumar Tiwari said the accused, identified as Sandeep, had attacked a man in the village earlier this week.
The officer said that when the police tried to arrest him, the accused opened fire, following which he was injured in the retaliatory firing and was taken into custody.
Police have recovered an illegal weapon along with live and used cartridges from his possession. (ANI)
