Champat Rai Resignation: Amidst the Ram temple offering controversy, Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has accepted the resignation of General Secretary Champat Rai. Krishna Mohan has been made the acting general secretary.
Ram Mandir Donation Controversy: Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust took a big decision on Monday amid the ongoing controversy over alleged embezzlement of offerings in the Ram temple. The Trust has accepted the resignation of General Secretary Champat Rai. Champat Rai had earlier resigned from his post taking moral responsibility. Now Trustee Krishna Mohan has been given the responsibility of acting General Secretary till the appointment of the new General Secretary. The Trust meeting was held amid tight security arrangements at the guest house located in the Ram Janmabhoomi complex, where many important issues were discussed.
Trust accepted resignation, also appreciated service
Trust treasurer Swami Govind Dev Giri Maharaj said that once Champat Rai resigned, it was the formal responsibility of the trust to accept it. He said that along with accepting the resignation, the Trust also appreciated Champat Rai’s contribution over the years. Swami Govind Dev Giri said that he has known Champat Rai for more than three decades and according to him, the biggest mistake was to trust too much people who allegedly took advantage of the trust arrangement. He clarified that in his view it was a case of negligence and not of any criminal role.
Krishna Mohan said – will remove the flaws, the culprits should be punished
Krishna Mohan, who was made acting general secretary, said that his priority would be to remove the shortcomings in the trust’s systems and prevent recurrence of such incidents. He said that whoever is found guilty in the investigation, strict action will be taken against him as per law. He admitted that the recent developments have affected the image of the Trust and created a situation of distrust among the devotees. To overcome this, transparency and accountability will be strengthened.
SIT investigation continues, trust meeting held amid security
Security remained tight during the meeting held at the Ram Janmabhoomi complex and entry of private vehicles was also banned. Meanwhile, the SIT probing the alleged embezzlement of offerings has already submitted its preliminary report to the state government. Based on the report, FIR was registered and eight accused were arrested.
The investigating agencies have also recovered allegedly deleted CCTV footage, the investigation of which is ongoing. However, till now no FIR has been registered against Champat Rai, Anil Mishra and special invitee member Gopal Rao. At the same time, some advocates of Faizabad Bar Association have also given a written complaint to the police demanding registration of FIR against them.
